Although many leavers will already be familiar with the OP Cricket Club through playing either for the Colts XI or for the senior teams, we are always eager to welcome new playing members, as well as such essential people as umpires and scorers. So, for the benefit of those with no previous experience of the OPCC, but who nonetheless have an interest in cricket, we include below some basic information about ourselves.

The Club is, of course, based at the Old Pauline ground at Thames Ditton, where there are two cricket squares and some of the best facilities in the League. A full programme of weekend matches is played from the beginning of May through to the end of September, with occasional midweek fixtures. On Saturdays three league sides are fielded, and this year we will field a 4th XI during the school holidays. The Saturday 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd XIs play in the Surrey Leagues, which offer competitive club cricket to a very high standard. The 1^st XI was promoted at the end of last season to Division 1 of the Fullers League. The Saturday 4^th XI and two Sunday sides play 'friendlies' against a variety of local clubs. The Club also embarks on major tours every two years, having visited South Africa, Barbados, Sri Lanka and Kenya in recent years and India on the horizon for Easter 2007.

It is, of course, extremely important for us to receive a constant flow of new members from the school: in this context we would emphasise that no-one should be put off because they did not excel at the game at school. We can and do provide cricket at all levels and we can usually provide transport for those with no ready access to the ground.
